The face behind the brand

Hello there!

I am Helen, founder of Sweet Peach Cake Studio, Bristol, lover of weddings and mum to two amazing girls, both of whom have a dairy allergy.

Having first-hand experience of the social impact of allergies, I am passionate about helping to create a more inclusive celebration, with delicious cake that can help you connect and celebrate together. After all, no one should feel left out at a party!

Decorating a Wedding Cake

Prior to building a wedding cake business, I spent many years as a secondary school English and EAL teacher in both Bristol and London and loved being in the classroom; everyday was different. My classes were both fun and sometimes challenging, but nearly always rewarding! I was fortunate to work with and support incredible students from all over the world, something I found particularly motivating and an area I’d like to combine with baking in the future (watch this space)!

Creativity has always been important to me and my free time has often involved drawing, painting or printmaking. As you can see from my designs, I like to incorporate this into the cakes wherever possible, lots of my wedding cakes have a hand painted or illustrative style and often contain personal hints to you as a couple. I love it when a design really tells your story or represents you as a couple. (Maybe that’s the English teacher in me but I love a good story and all the symbolism hidden within it!)

Alongside family, creativity and connection, another area that inspires my cake designs is nature. If I could move Bristol to the sea, I would do it in a flash!

Every year, as a family we spend time camping on the west coast of France, I love the laid-back life style that surrounds the beach – the sand dunes, the pine tree, the waves, the sailing, surfing and swimming. Not to mention the French patisseries and delicious ice-creams. We even got engaged during a chilled-out picnic on the beach here! The simplicity of being by the sea or surrounded by nature is a constant source of inspiration for my wedding cake designs.

Being able to combine baking, creativity and weddings all in one is the best! I am lucky to work with the friendliest clients, helping them to create beautiful and delicious memories on the best day ever - sharing the love (and cake) with their guests. What could be better? (Apart from perhaps moving a Bristol wedding to the ocean?!)
